Finn Jones Still Wants To Prove Those Wrong With Disney+ Marvel Return

An article here on Finn who is still wanting to prove the naysayers wrong for their doubts on his portrayal of Danny Rand, THE IRON FIST. I can say I’m rooting for it. In the article Finn mentions wanting to do a HEROES FOR HIRE with Danny and Luke, played by Mike Colter. I say bring it. The longer Disney+, Marvel, and Kevin Fiege wait to do this more I feel it does a disservice to the fans who loved both IRON FIST with Finn, and LUKE CAGE with Mike. Time indeed. It also said Finn is happy with the return of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and Daredevil.

Iron Fist’s Finn Jones Wants To ‘Prove Those Motherf**ers Wrong’ With MCU Return

There’s no denying that Marvel’s “Iron Fist” had a rough go on Netflix, as the series was slammed by critics on Rotten Tomatoes with a 37% “rotten” rating. The series earned a bit more respect with its audience score on the review aggregator, as it mustered a 67% favorability rating.

While “Iron Fist” was canceled after two seasons in 2018, Jones apparently isn’t willing to leave the series in the past just yet. In a 2022 interview with Geekscape, the actor said he’s game to play the mystical martial artist Danny Rand aka Iron Fist again should Disney+ — which has ownership of all of Netflix’s previous Marvel properties — ever decide to invite the character to the MCU.

“I’d love another chance. I care about Danny Rand deeply, I believe in that character, I think there’s a lot of work to be done,” Jones said. “There’s something about the underdog, y’know? I love the underdog narrative.”

Aside from that, it appears that Jones is still feeling snakebit about how detractors viewed “Iron Fist,” and he’s clearly not afraid to speak out about it. “I love the ability to prove someone wrong, and I want to prove all those motherf***ers wrong,” Jones stressed. “I know I have it in me and I know I can give the Danny Rand performance that fans want and that is possible.”

Jones is happy for Cox’s return to Daredevil

Of course, some of Finn Jones’ Netflix colleagues have already made their debuts in the MCU, most notably Charlie Cox with his turns as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil in the blockbuster movie “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and the Disney+ series “She-Hulk.”

In addition, Marvel dropped the “Daredevil” news everybody had been waiting for in July 2022 with the announcement of the new Disney+ series “Daredevil: Born Again.” Jones is thrilled about Cox reprising Daredevil, telling Geekscape, “I think he’s fantastic for the role, and I’m so excited to see him portraying that character back on screen again.”

“Daredevil: Born Again” will also star Cox’s “Daredevil” co-star Vincent D’Onofrio. The actor previously reprised his villain Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin in Disney+’s “Hawkeye” series; a demonstration of how Marvel is getting creative with the way it is integrating Netflix Marvel stars into various MCU projects. Like D’Onofrio, Jones appears willing to hop back into action as Danny Rand wherever his and his “Iron Fist” co-star Jessica Henwick’s characters are needed.

“From my perspective, I would love to come back. But I think it’d have to be in a way that makes most creative and narrative sense,” Jones explained. “For me, I’ve been thinking about this, I think it would be really cool to see a ‘Heroes for Hire’ series. That’s the way to bring him back but then also have Colleen [Wing] to come back and still be the Iron Fist. She should be holding that fist, she should show up in, maybe [a] ‘Shang-Chi’ [sequel] — you know, it doesn’t have to be ‘Shang-Chi,’ but it can be whatever Marvel property. Colleen as Iron Fist should f***in’ be [in the biggest] movies. She deserves that, and she’s great for doing that.”

Jones said his passion for Iron Fist comes from being a fan

While Finn Jones has hopes for Jessica Henwick in movies like a “Shang-Chi” sequel, the actor also wants a reunion at some point with both Henwick and “Luke Cage” star Mike Colter.

“I would love to see her show up to something like that and then to have Danny and Luke show up on their own series. And then, over the course of seasons of television and films, you see those characters come back together in a dynamic and real way,” Jones said in his interview with Geekscape. “It allows for Danny to have redemption. It allows for Colleen and Iron Fist to have her moment. For me, that makes the most creative sense. It’s all there. The possibility is all there.”

Jones said his passion for “Iron Fist” comes from him being a fan of the character and the Marvel stories. With any luck, he added, other creatives will come together and be on the same page about bringing the Iron Fist character back. “Take my acting ego out of the equation for a moment,” Jones related. “As an audience member, as someone who loves the Iron Fist and loves Danny Rand, and wants to see their representation in film and television, I think what I just described is the best way to bring back all these characters in a way that makes everyone feel happy.”

Jones’ Geekscape interview didn’t mark the first time the “Iron Fist” star said he wanted to bring Danny Rand back to the screen. Jones talked about how much he wanted to reteam with Colter in 2022, telling Comic Book, “I loved working with Mike and I loved the on-screen chemistry between Danny and Luke.”

Fans Want “Heroes for Hire” With Finn Jones & Mike Colter

According to an article in We Got This Covered, fans are discussing the possibility of a reteam between Finn as DANNY RAND or THE IRON FIST with his THE DEFENDERS co-star, Mike Colter, to reprise his role as LUKE CAGE in a series for Disney+ HEROES FOR HIRE. The article states with the return of THE DEFENDERS properties to Marvel/Disney the possibilities are becomes real. My only issue with the article is it’s a little less than kind to Finn in stating he was not included in the video showing the addition to Disney+, but he was. I think that was disrespectful.

Fans demand a ‘Heroes for Hire’ show, Iron Fist included

Slowly but surely, the former Netflix shows are being absorbed back into official Marvel Cinematic Universe canon, with recent events indicating that a potential Heroes for Hire miniseries isn’t the most far-fetched idea in the world.

Not only has the Defenders Saga been rebranded and added to Disney Plus, but Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock returned to the fray in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk was reintroduced as the big bad of Hawkeye, and Marvel’s own website acknowledged the pair’s three-season run on a rival streaming service as being part of mainline continuity.

Krysten Ritter and Mike Colter set the internet ablaze when they posed for a photo together, while Jon Bernthal is happy to shout from the rooftops that he’s open to playing the Punisher again. With that in mind, perhaps the biggest surprise about MCU fans on Reddit calling on a Heroes for Hire show is the fact that Finn Jones’ Iron Fist is included in the conversation.

Jones’ Danny Rand wasn’t even part of the promos showcasing the Defenders arriving on Disney Plus, so we can probably rule him out of the running. MCU enthusiasts were recently celebrating Simone Missick’s Misty Knight, though, while Jessica Henwick admitted she turned down a role in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings partly in the hope that Colleen Wing would be brought back into the action.

It might be a long shot, but the churn of content is never going to stop, and there are plenty of far worse pitches out there than getting the band back together in a Heroes for Hire project.

Slowly Netflix Marvel Shows Being Incorporated into the MCU

This post will be duplicated to my Charlie Cox Online, Finn Jones Online, and Mike Colter Online sites as it concerns all three of them. This article appeared in the aftermath of Charlie’s appearance in SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/The Kingpin in Disney Plus’ Hawkeye series. It concerns the incorporation of all the Netflix Marvel shows into the greater MCU pantheon. My only concern is with the confirmation of Charlie and Vincent, there is little doubt to the inclusion of Krysten Ritter as the titular JESSICA JONES, and Jon Bernthal as The Punisher/Frank Castle, there is still huge doubt as to whether the other two of THE DEFENDERS in Mike Colter as LUKE CAGE will be in it. Even less so Finn Jones as DANNY RAND/IRON FIST as to most he is the “weakest link” in them all. For me without Mike and most certainly without Finn I think the presence in this new sugar coated “Disney”verse will not be complete. Recasting any of them would be a huge fail.

The Marvel Netflix Shows Might Be Finally, FINALLY Crossing Over With the MCU

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has only gotten bigger over the past 13 years. Between an absurd amount of movies, several new series on Disney Plus, and a reality-shattering Spider-Man movie bringing in films from other studios, there’s practically no stopping Marvel’s grasp over pop culture. It’s gotten so huge, in fact, that we just might be able to fit in the heroes from the Marvel Netflix shows after all.

The almost-unwieldy canon of the MCU has been cracked open even further by the revelations of series like Loki. With timelines breaking and the facets of the multiverse constantly leaking into each other, the threads connecting shows to movies have become more distinct. The potential for new and highly anticipated entries to the universe like the X-Men and the Fantastic Four is almost entirely apparent at this point. Of course, that could spell good news for the once-defunct Netflix shows.

Will the Marvel Netflix shows return?

In 2015, Daredevil began streaming on Netflix. The gritty, violent adaptation of Marvel’s “Man Without Fear” received critical acclaim during its first season. The show also kicked off an entirely new era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, one that shone a spotlight on lesser-known heroes in the pantheon. Daredevil and its successive shows tackled heavier themes and storylines while still taking place in the canon of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher were all shows that expanded the MCU at large, all while proving that the superhero franchise could have a darker side to it. This experimental side canon went strong for almost four years, but in that time, it became increasingly clear that these grittier heroes weren’t going to cross over with the movies any time soon.

While the New York City-based shows were able to feature nods to the larger canon — namely discussing the Chitauri attack and namedropping an Avenger every now and then — there were never any signs that the shows could ever interact with the movies more openly. In March 2015, Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb even stated at the time that the goal of having a big crossover was a ways away.

“We have to earn that,” Jeph Loeb said about the potential for Avengers showing up alongside the Marvel Netflix heroes. “The audience needs to understand who all of these characters are and what the world is before you then start comingling in terms of where it’s going.”

By 2019, all hope seemed lost. The Marvel Netflix shows seemed to fizzle out unceremoniously with the third and final season of Jessica Jones in 2019. As per Marvel’s contract with Netflix, the former would have to wait two years after cancellation before being able to do anything with the characters.

But by 2021, Marvel Studios has wasted little time in getting these heroes back on their feet. Vincent D’Onofrio recently reprised his role as Wilson Fisk / Kingpin in Hawkeye on Disney Plus. With the resurgence of a fan-favorite character from Daredevil, the floodgates are officially open for the Marvel Netflix shows to make a comeback. Though they may not see any new seasons on Netflix, they may just show up in the many upcoming Marvel Studios projects in the future.

More News on The Defenders From “Daredevil” Charlie Cox

I posted this over at my Charlie Cox site, and instead of trying to come up with something new to put here, I thought I’d just copy and paste. So here we go……

A Youtube channel called Emergency Awesome just posted an excerpted audio interview with Charlie about DAREDEVIL and including THE DEFENDERS and news that filming is about to begin on DAREDEVIL Season Three, how they filmed THE DEFENDERS using all the best people from all the Netflix shows including LUKE CAGE, IRON FIST & JESSICA JONES. Charlie also talked about the production on THE PUNISHER series with Jon Bernthal as well as the fact he hasn’t received that phone call concerning the possibility of appearing in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR. He also discussed how season two for DAREDEVIL was more about the mysticism as it would ultimately lead into IRON FIST with Finn Jones, as oppose to what happened in season one of DAREDEVIL which Charlie called more of a police show with a superhero element. All in all it’s a great interview. Emergency Awesome cut the longer interview down to cover the main points, so I’m trying to find the longer version. When I do I’ll post here. If anyone else finds it please leave a link in the comments section of this post.

“I Am Danny Rand” – New Featurette With Finn

There is a new featurette out on Finn talking about the IRON FIST and who Danny Rand is. It’s a pretty good video showing a bit more footage from the show and more of Finn as Danny. We also get to see a bit more of Wai Ching Ho as Madame Gao from DAREDEVIL. Also some more of Jessica Henwicke as Colleen Wing, Jessica Stroup as Joy Meachum, and Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum. This thing looks amazing and I can hardly wait to see it. I’ve been boning up on my Netflix street-level heroes with re-visiting DAREDEVIL. I just finished season one of that, now I’m onto episode five of JESSICA JONES and will follow up with season two of DAREDEVIL then finish up with LUKE CAGE all in advance of IRON FIST dropping on the 17th. Gotta say it though, I’m just so excited to see them all together in THE DEFENDERS. Until that time here is Finn discussing Danny.
